I am doing well in everything right now I feel good about my work and what we've learned and talked about. I probably need to improve on getting more people to see my blog. I've been pretty committed to giving my best work in this class I don't like to half ass in this class I take it serious. If I was reading the grade it'd be a A+.

April 26 journal topic
During today's course I learned that there are really not a lot of teachers that make us present on our own interest and questions. I think this plays a big part in students lives because we're used to the educational structure that doesn't let us be creative or open minded to subjects that interest us. If you're reading this Dr.preston thank you!An example of ethos is how Niceforo was talking about how he felt miserable with out his phone or internet on it. Technology is a big part of this era or generation that we are in.
Ignite talk
My big question is why does Religion divide us when it's supposed to unite us? Religion is a touchy subject in a social environment obviously because everyone has their beliefs and arguments get started over religion even wars. One of the things I did over break was research a few different religions and since their so different I categorized them. What I learned was that mainly religions are made for peace but in some religions we would be killed for believing in what we believe. For example The Quaran has over 109 verses about going to war with non believers. And in the Bible it states that if you come across a non believer then you shouldn't greet them look at them pretty much pretend their not there. A connection I see is that Emerson himself talked about God. He says that we were individually and distinctly made with the hand of God. What I'm going to do next is not categorize myself into one religion but be open minded to others and have a fellowship with Jesus.

Idea #2
I did research and categorized a few religions and found similarities in them. Christians and Catholics were the most similar obviously because they both believe in God and Jesus but still have their differences and are technically considered 2 different religions.
Idea #1
I used my sister Josie and my friend Hannah to discuss the differences in their religions Christianity and Catholicism.

If I had a magic wand and could do anything I wanted over spring break I would be at the beach everyday. Luckily I'm blessed enough to live not that far from the beach so I will appreciate it by going to the beach whenever I can.

Option 2
In the book Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury a Character named Montag had an inner world that really differed from the world around him. Montag's perception on books was different than everyone else's. He saw something in them others didn't, he saw knowledge. Montag had an idea to start his own or a new generation when the city was destroyed by bombs.
I feel like one of Ray Bradbury's syntax starts with symbolism. In class Joseph talked about a salamander resembling the fireman, and he made the connection of how salamanders are always near water and fireman are always near fire. Simple. 451 can also resemble the temperature of the books burning. There is so much symbolism that's why I chose it as number 1 in Ray Bradbury's syntax.
Irony plays a huge part in this book also. The most ironic part about the book is that Montag is a fire fighter who doesn't put out fires anymore but starts them! When Beatty would tell Montag "if you have a problem burn it " I think he was using figurative speech but Montag took matters into his own hands when Beatty found out Montag's secret. Irony and Figurative speech together. The imagery Ray Bradbury puts in my head when he details these sentences is great.
Symbolism, imagery, figurative speech, and irony plus more can be found through out the book. But the I think the way Ray Bradbury arranges his sentences is through symbolism, irony and imagery and he does a great job of doing it. In my opinion I feel like he's kind of weird to come up with half the stuff Montag thinks or does.

Socratic Seminar Notes
salamander symbolized the fire trucks or fire men because they're always near water or in water and fire man are always near fires.
Who drops the bombs ? The war is just there in the background and we don't know why similar to us at war with Syria we don't know why
Montag set himself an idea to change society
Montag fell in love with the books and we know that because when Beaty was talking bad about books he protected them. When we protect something it's because we care about it or them.
The same way Montag loves his books in our generation and society is the same way we love our phones and that's an analogy
If we didn't have phones we'd interact more And it'd require people to be more connected personally.
Why do we like reading stuff on our phones more than we like reading books ?
When Montag remembered where he met Mildred he was out of the woods. Sometimes we have to leave the environment we're in to get our thoughts right

This happens so much I can't even describe a time my words got twisted happened. But the first thing that pops in my mind is that this happens in relationships all the time! I have a little example. My lady and I were walking and in a fooling manner I said " haha you're so stupid". Well she took it the totally sensitive and opposite way I intended and I had to explain that I was joking, blah blah blah.
Imagery on FH451
Yesterday the U.S sent airstrikes to bomb a airbase in Syria. When I read that I got a image that was really similar to when I read the end of FH451 and the city was betting bombed. I could imagine the flames and death and sound of bombs falling.

My favorite food is macaroni but this restaurant in SLO Mclinttocks has the best macorini! It's super cheesy and has like bread crumbs on it. It also comes with a huge piece of steak and porkchops. My favorite drink that comes with it is sprite it's just super refreshing and cold. It gives a sizzling flavor that washes down your throat.

Is the American education system a joke?
A person who wants to be an electrician takes electrical classes a person who wants to be a beauty consultant might take a business or cosmetics class. In the American education system we have to through a number of classes, subjects and tests to graduate or move toward our career or major even though a majority of this classes will not benefit you at all. In college you have to do the same thing except you're paying for these classes you don't need. For example if you want to be a history teacher you need to pay to take a biology class first ?? My sister will be paying her college loans for the rest of her life probably. I think the American education system has become more of a financial business than a institution that's priority is to educate or to take classes required in their major or career.

Maybe they're trying to figure out how much we've improved ? Other than that I don't fucking know I personally think it's a bullshit test and they say colleges look at it but not everyone wants to go to college.

MONTAG KILLS
Montag turns the flamethrower on Beatty because Beatty knows that he's been saving and reading books. Also because Beatty shows up to burn Mintags house and threatens Faber.

I think the fireman are at Mintags house because something In his house was burned. Maybe his books ? I predict that Montag is going to get even or more of his books will get burned.
FH451 quiz
5. Favor says that there are 3 features of books. The first has qualities of evil and good from humans.
The second is people have to read slowly and find the detail in books. The third quality is the right to carry out actions after the first the first two interactions. He's saying that people shouldn't read books to reflect life but should process what they've learned.
6.Its a radio and a special invitation to the underground movement to save books.
7.The white clown🤡 On tv shows that people in society like puppets that are cheaply amused or mindless pretty much. Also when people see thebwhite clown involved with violence it's like propaganda to the brain to make people think that war really isn't as bad as it seems.
8. Mrs.Phelps starts crying when she hears a poem read to her because she's never heard a poem before. She doesn't know why she is crying. When she says that the poem is bad or terrible and calls Montag nasty she's reacting the way society has taught us how to act.
9. Montag realizes that Mildred probably turned him in and that his books or house will be set on fire by the men.

Maybe we can't get away from advertisements on politics or other stuff like persuasive communication because the government doesn't want us to be at peace with our own thoughts. Call me crazy but if u think about it we are in a educational system that requires us to know and learn the same things as everyone else in the U.S. I feel like we've got so accustomed to advertisements on the radio,tv, and on our phones that it's normal for us to hear or see that stuff any minute of the day. Even when we are at peace with our thoughts we have a phone listening to what we say, it's crazy.

14. Added questions
Captain Beatty -"Any man who can take a tv wall apart and put it back together again, and most men can, nowadays" is happier than any man who tries to slide rule, measure, and equate the universe, which just won't be measured or equated without making man feel bestial and lonely."
This quote says a lot and stands out to me because he's saying a lot and in a way he's comparing and education system to happiness or reality by saying that a man that can break something then build it is happier than a man who spends his time solving equations for example.
I think this does accurately depict my highschool because school and this education system does stress people out including me and I do feel like I'm alone in this sometimes when I don't get school.
I know students who'd rather work then go to school.
Montag probably feels da because his new knowledge of interests in books is a great burden.

Fahrenheit 451 note
I think that the girl is not crazy and she's similar to Nick from The Great Gatsby because we don't know if they're serious all the time or whether to believe them
Foreshadowing:"The green light at the end of the dock of East Egg" makes us ask why did he moved to West Egg?
Allusion : In the movie "Get out " this guy is driving out of this mansion, right when he's out the gates he crashes. This is an allusion to when people are leaving Gatsby mansion and they crash.
Sensory Imagery:"The pool of Crimson slowly churning down the drain"give us a image of how Gatsby got murdered

GENESIS: THE BACKROUND OF MY BIG QUESTION
Originally my "Big Question " was "what happens to our brain or during death ?" I started researching about the brain, then I ran across a article about brain washing which seemed a little bit more appealing. While researching about how the human brain can get brainwashed, which happens more more often then you think I watched a video about how the CIA would test pychedelics on unbidden people to see if they can brain wash them. It's just as bad as it sounds. There are records of people committing suicide after being tested on and there are records of people that just plain we're never the same person. These people that were tested on unbidden went crazy. The sad thing is the CIA was" innocent"when charged with these accusations . Of course. Anyway, this is where my question comes from. "What is happening to our brain when psychedelics are taken?
